SUMMARY:#GivingTuesday
DESCRIPTION:We’ve lost more than a quarter of North American birds in the last fifty years\, with steep declines even in traditionally abundant birds. Hundreds of vulnerable species that remain are on a dangerous path to extinction — and they are running out of time! \nBut with the energy\, passion\, and extraordinary dedication of Bucks Audubon supporters like you\, we can help save them. That’s why we urge you to take immediate action by making a special year-end contribution today. \nImagine\, your gift of $100 could allow us to educate a class of middle school students about the impacts of climate change on our local birds\, like the Scarlet Tanager. Or your donation of $500 could support a workshop for municipal officials that will address the needs of climate-threatened species like the Bobolink by encouraging simple actions such as adjusting mowing schedules. \nYou make all of our important work possible! We are dedicated to educating\, engaging and inspiring people to protect birds and our environment. With so many vulnerable birds counting on us to survive\, we need you now more than ever. So please\, as this challenging year comes to a close\, reaffirm your commitment to birds\, the environment and Bucks Audubon with a contribution today. \nClick here to make a contribution to our #GivingTuesday Annual Appeal. Thank you in advance for your gift!

SUMMARY:Penn Environment Letter Writing Event
DESCRIPTION:In the New Year\, we are going to keep working towards a better climate. We have witnessed several threats to our planet in the past year alone\, including rollbacks of environmental protections proposed by the EPA and strong warnings from the global scientific community. We have knowledge of the problem\, and what we need going forward is the political will for change to save our climate. Let us open a line of communication with our  (newly) elected officials and communities to encourage them to make climate action as a priority this year. Writing a letter to a decision maker or a short opinion piece to your local newspaper about why climate change is your priority takes a very short time and has a lasting impact. Join us on January 22nd to write letters to Congresspeople\, Senators\, and our local news outlets to get the word out and get the conversation started. We will provide talking points and resources to help you take action. \nLet us know you’ll come by emailing Bob McGarry\, a Bucks Audubon Advocacy Committee member\, at rjmcg27@gmail.com

SUMMARY:"Catching the Sun" Movie Screening
DESCRIPTION:2019 is our 50th Anniversary and we are so excited to announce that this year’s Capital Campaign is for Bucks Audubon to go solar! Many townships in Bucks County and beyond are making a big push for sustainable energy and solar seems to be a popular option. Explore the global race to a clean energy future and how solar can create local jobs through this incredible documentary – “Catching the Sun”\, hosted at Bucks County Audubon Society! \nAn unemployed American worker\, a Tea Party activist\, and a Chinese solar entrepreneur race to lead the clean energy future. Who wins and who loses in the battle for power in the 21st century? Through the stories of workers and entrepreneurs in the U.S. and China\, Catching the Sun captures the global race to lead the clean energy future. Over the course of a solar jobs training program\, Catching the Sun follows the hope and heartbreak of unemployed American workers seeking jobs in the solar industry.  With countries like China investing in innovative technologies and capitalizing on this trillion-dollar opportunity\, Catching the Sun tells the story of the global energy transition from the perspective of workers and entrepreneurs building solutions to income inequality and climate change with their own hands. Their successes and failures speak to one of the biggest questions of our time: will the U.S. actually be able to build a clean energy economy? Catching the Sun premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival and was named a 2016 New York Times Critics’ Pick. It’s also part of American Film Showcase\, shown at U.S. embassies and diplomatic missions around the world. The film released globally on Netflix with Executive Producer Leonardo DiCaprio on Earth Day 2016. Catching the Sun was nominated by the Environmental Media Association for the 2016 EMA Award for Best Documentary. \nWatch the trailer for Catching the Sun by clicking Here! \nThis is a free event for the public\, however space is limited to 25\, so register early! Click here to reserve your spot. Inclement weather date – January 17th. Stay tuned on our social media pages and website for updates about weather! \nSponsored by Ready for 100: MontCo \nWho is Ready for 100:MontCo? Click here to learn more about them and their mission!
