SUMMARY:Nest Watch Volunteer Training 2025
DESCRIPTION:NestWatch is a community science project administered by Cornell Lab of Ornithology designed to track the status and trends in the reproductive biology of birds. This training session will instruct participants on how to properly monitor their assigned nest boxes\, the Nest Watch Code of Conduct\, the nest monitoring protocol\, and the use of the NestWatch website and mobile app. The ability to walk reasonable distances over uneven terrain and a commitment to monitoring the assigned boxes twice per week during the nesting season are required to participate.  \n Register here by April 1\, 2025. \nMaximum number of participants is 12.

SUMMARY:Teacher Naturalist Training 2025
DESCRIPTION:Join our staff of teacher naturalists and share in the fun and satisfaction of teaching at Honey Hollow. Training is available to adults interested in working with school children and who are interested in preserving our environment\, enthusiastic\, able to work with children of all ages and abilities\, flexible\, and willing to learn new lessons. Participants should be able to work during the week\, walk reasonable distances over uneven ground while carrying moderate amounts of weight\, and be willing to be outdoors during all types of weather.    \nParticipants will be introduced to techniques for sharing the wonders of the environment with groups of students who visit the Honey Hollow Environmental Education Center as well as trained in specific lesson plans. Upon completion\, participants are asked to teach at least 30 hours during the next 10 months. \nRegistration cut-off date is April 3.
