Outdoor Education Programs
Field trip curricula are designed to correspond with the Pennsylvania Science, Technology & Engineering, Environmental Literacy and Sustainability (STEELS) Standards. Programs can be differentiated according to grade level and classroom goals. Each trip is two hours long, and groups are welcome to bring lunch or a snack to enjoy at our picnic tables.
Program Fee
There is a $120 minimum for a single program and a $150 minimum for a double program. No charge for chaperones and teachers.

Life Science
Adaptive Habitats
Also in Environmental Literacy and Sustainability.
Students will embark on an exciting exploration of the meadows and forests of Honey Hollow, uncovering the plants and animals that call these habitats home. As they investigate, they’ll discover how living things are connected and what makes each habitat unique. Along the way, students will reveal the amazing adaptations that help organisms survive and thrive in their ecosystems.
STEELS: 3.4.K-2.C, 3.1.2.B, 3.1.2.C, 3.1.3.G
Predator/Prey
Minimum of 50 students.
In this action-packed activity, students emulate animals in a food chain, attempting to fill their survival needs, while avoiding predators and learning about animal interactions, energy transfer, and adaptations.
STEELS: 3.1.5.B
Macroinvertebrate Mayhem
2-part Unit. Not available in winter.
Dive into the tiny world of macroinvertebrates! These small creatures can tell us LOTS of information, especially about water quality. Paired with our on-site program, we will bring the creek to you from Honey Hollow’s stream. Students will then document and observe to calculate the water quality on our property.
STEELS: 3.1.6-8.U
Earth & Space Science
Birds & Climate Change
Birds are important indicators of the health of our environment. Through looking at data collected by scientists around the world, observing impacts that we can see in our area, and gaining an understanding of climate change. Students will explore how our local birds are impacted by the changing climate.
STEELS: 3.3.6-8.O
Birds & Climate Change
4-Part Unit
Building on the introductory Birds and Climate Change program, this engaging four-part unit invites students to dive deeper into how climate change is impacting bird populations. With one on-site experience and three classroom sessions, students will explore through hands-on investigations and real-world data activities.
